We invest so much into our smartphones that having them get damaged for any reason makes us cringe.
But what happens when the damage is not even your fault, and it’s not like it’s something that you can prepare for? Cos, this is the issue that multiple Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL users are facing right now.
According to reports on the dedicated Google Pixel thread, users of these phones could wake up, look at their phones or just randomly find that the device is bricked.
The best way to know this is by the phone entering the EDL mode by itself. For those not familiar, the EDL mode is a Qualcomm initiative which allows users to download their data off a phone once it gets bricked. Thus, this phone entering such a mode is bricking.
Many users claim that the issue came out of the blues for them. Others, who had been reporting the issue since December of last year, mentioned that it started after a software update.
As of the time of this writing, Google is yet to issue an official statement on the matter. We’ll await that, and see what they propose as a fix to the matter.
