To get anywhere close to this on your phone, you will need to subscribe to the 165GB data plan at ₦35,000 (21kobo/MB). That is a whole ₦11,000 more.
So, if your data subscriptions are via your smartphone, you will be paying more for data compared to if you subscribe to a Broadband or Unlimited data plan via your MTN broadband devices like MiFi and Router.
The deals are even wider if you are a FiberX and ODU subscriber. For ₦30,000 and ₦45,000, respectively, you get truly unlimited internet at 50Mbps and 100Mbps on both platforms. Generous unlimited data plan is pricier for 5G routers at ₦40,000 for 50Mbps (400GB FUP) and ₦65,000 for 100Mbps (800GB FUP). Note that speeds on unlimited data plans for 5G routers throttle to 5Mbps when you hit the FUP.

The limitation of FiberX and ODU is that they are fixed in a location (home or office). This means you will need another data plan on your smartphone to stay connected while on the move. You can then do most of your heavy downloads and online streaming at home or in the office via your FiberX router or ODU router, and subscribe to a cheap, cost-effective Always-on monthly plan like the MTN 18.6GB Always-on plan, which costs ₦5,500, or the 45GB Always-on plan that costs ₦9,000 for browsing when you are on the move.
Get an MTN Router or MiFi and Subscribe to a Broadband Plan
A second option is to buy an MTN Broadband device, like a 5G router or MiFi, for your home or office. This lets you access better data rates on MTN Unlimited and Broadband data plans, which aren’t available on mobile phones and are exclusive to MTN routers and MiFi.
With ₦40,000, you can get the MTN Gold 50Mbps unlimited data plan for your MTN router. The Gold plan has a 400GB FUP (fair usage policy). You can still connect after using 400GB, but your connection speed will be reduced to 5Mbps for the rest of the validity period.
