Almost 5 months after unveiling the its flagship OnePlus 6 smartphone, Chinese company OnePlus have officially announced and launched the OnePlus 6T as a sequel. The launch of the device is in contrast to a leaked invite that pointed to a ln October 17 release date.
However, according early image leaks, the OnePlus 6T comes with a bigger display (6.41-inches), better screen-to-body ratio (85.6%) and longer aspect ratio (19.5:9) than the original OnePlus 6 (OP6). Also, the rectangular notch used on the OP6 has been modified to a water-drop notch to create more space for the smartphone’s display.
The device comes with unspecified version of IP waterproof and dustproof rating but is duly protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 6. This makes the OnePlus 6 the first and only device to feature the latest version of Corning’s Gorilla Glass.
The tiny notch houses the single 16-megapixel Sony IMX371 selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture while on the rear, a dual 16MP primary + 20MP secondary camera configuration sits comfortably in the same OnePlus 6-esque fashion. You’d notice that there isn’t any fingerprint reader on the rear this time. This is because OnePlus decided to follow in the footsteps of Vivo by joining us in-display fingerprint bandwagon. This makes the OnePlus 6T the first smartphone from the OEM to have its fingerprint reader under its screen.
On the inside, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC will power the device laced with Adreno 630 GPU and based on Oxygen OS Android 9 Pie. Battery capacity and internal memory has been cranked up to 3,700mAh and 128GB/256GB respectively. RAM options are 6GB and 8GB respectively. Like the OnePlus 6, the OP6T supports Dash Charge technology but cannot be charged wirelessly.
There are two Black coloured variants of the new OnePlus 6T (Mirror Black and Midnight Black) and they will go on sale starting from November 1. Price information are listed below:
- 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – $549
- 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – $579
