Two months ago, iQOO unveiled the iQOO 8 and iQOO 8 Pro smartphones in China. Not long after the arrival of the iQOO 8 series, reports claimed that the Chinese smartphone maker is working on the iQOO 9 smartphone lineup.
But considering iQOO’s launch pattern, the iQOO 9 series may not arrive this year as speculations say the upcoming series would likely break cover early next year. Meanwhile, the iQOO 9 series has received multiple approvals from various certification platforms ahead of its official launch.
The Indian variant of the iQOO 9 Pro with model number I2022 appeared at the IMEI database earlier this month. And recently, the base model – the iQOO 9 – also surfaced on the database of the same certification authority – IMEI.
The iQOO 9 that appeared on the IMEI database has the model number V2171A, and it seems not to be the Indian variant but a model that will debut in China and some other countries.
Presently, there’s no news regarding the specifications and features of the upcoming iQOO 9 series. However, judging by the specs on the previous smartphone series from iQOO, the rumor mill has come up with some specs that would likely come with the iQOO 9 series.
Recall, the iQOO 8 series came with the Snapdragon 888 chip that debuted in January. So, it is likely that the upcoming iQOO 9 series features an advanced version of the Snapdragon 888 chip.
