MTN discontinues Unlimited Data Plans

0
MTN Unlimited Data Plans were great for your MTN 5G Router

MTN stopped offering unlimited data plans in February as part of its ongoing price review. A check we made in February 2025 on the company’s website showed that MTN Unlimited Data Plans were no longer on offer. However, this appears to be temporary as MTN restored the Silver and Ruby Unlimited Data Plan in early March 2025.

Over the last couple of weeks, we have observed a lot of volatility on MTN Data Plans with many plans (especially the best value plans) being withdrawn and others changing in prices. The unlimited data plans and the Broadband Night Plans seem to be the latest casualty.

The MTN Unlimited Data plans were the best data plans if you have an MTN 5G Router. They offered great data allowance and when you used up your data allowance, you get daily data support until the end of your subscription period.

For example, the Monthly Silver Unlimited MTN Data Plan (our favorite) was priced at ₦18,000 with an FUP of 150GB with 5GB per day once you exceed your 150GB FUP. The price was initially increased to 20,000 Naira and daily data after FUP was reduced to 2GB, but was discontinued along with the other unlimited data plans in February.

The Bronze, Silver, Ruby, and Gold Unlimited plans were our recommended plans if you have an MTN 5G Router.

However, MTN has restored the Silver and Ruby plans while also introducing a 200GB Monthly Broadband Plan for ₦25,000 and restoring the super cost-effective 1.5TB Yearly Broadband Plan for ₦150,000. All these plans are great options for your MTN 5G Router or your MiFi.

The updated MTN Silver Unlimited Data Plan has a 150GB fair usage policy (FUP) and a 5GB daily limit once you exceed FUP until you complete the validity period of 30 days. The plan saw a slight price adjustment to ₦20,000 (from ₦18,000 pre price hike), an 11% increase.

The MTN Ruby Unlimited Data Plan was restored ‘as is’. It still has a 300GB FUP and a 5GB daily limit once you exceed FUP until you complete the validity period of 30 days. The price is still ₦30,000.

The MTN Broadband plans and the unlimited plans are the best data plans for your MTN 5G Router and MiFi.

MTN currently offers four monthly broadband plans: a 30GB plan for ₦9000, a 60GB plan for ₦14,500, a 120GB plan for ₦24,000, and a 200GB plan for ₦25,000 which in addition to the MTN unlimited data plans are our recommended plan if you have a 5G Router. MTN Broadband Night Plans have also been discontinued from our check.

15 Strangest Interview Questions Companies Actually Ask

0
Interview Questions

Photo by Dylan Gillis on Unsplash

Interview questions can sometimes be downright bizarre, but there’s often a method to the madness.

Companies like Facebook, Google, and Apple use these unconventional interview questions to delve deeper into a candidate’s thought processes, creativity, and personality.

James Dooley from Searcharoo gives us a look at 15 of the strangest interview questions companies have actually asked, along with the rationale behind them. James also provides tips on how to approach them effectively.

The Strangest Interview Questions From Top Brands

1. Cisco: “If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be and why?”

Choose a tree that represents your qualities and values, as the question aims to assess your personality and self-perception.

Explain your choice with attributes that align with the role you’re applying for.

2. Facebook: “25 racehorses, no stopwatch. 5 tracks. Figure out the top three fastest horses in the fewest number of races.”

This is one of those interview questions that evaluates your mathematical ability. To answer this question, break down the problem into smaller, manageable parts. Consider grouping the horses and conducting elimination races to find the top contenders efficiently.

3. Google: “How many basketballs would fit in this room?”

As this evaluates your estimation skills and logical reasoning, you should think about the volume of the room and the size of a basketball. Provide a structured estimation process rather than a random guess.

4. Blizzard Entertainment: “If you could have dinner with any three people (dead or alive), who would they be?”

Interview questions like this enable you to reveal your personal interests and values. Choose the individuals who have inspired you or whose work aligns with your career and personal values. Explain the significance of each choice.

5. Bed Bath & Beyond: “If you were a box of cereal, what would you be and why?”

This question gauges your creativity and personality fit. You should therefore pick a cereal that resonates with your personality and strengths. Be creative in linking your choice to your professional traits.

6. Goldman Sachs: “How would you explain a database in three sentences to your eight-year-old nephew?”

This tests your ability to simplify complex concepts. Therefore, you should use simple language and relatable analogies. Focus on clarity and comprehension.

7. American Heart Association: “What’s the color of money?”

How you pay attention to detail and cultural knowledge is central to this question. But this answer may vary by country. In the U.S., for example, money is predominantly green.

8. Microsoft: “If you had a choice between two superpowers, being invisible or flying, which would you choose?”

This reveals one’s personality traits and decision-making process. Reflect on the implications of each superpower and choose one that aligns with your values and professional strengths.

9. Intel: “How would you design a spice rack for the blind?”

This sounds like a trick question, but fear not. Think of the question as nothing but something that will evaluate your problem-solving and empathy skills.

Consider the needs and challenges faced by visually impaired individuals. Focus on practical and inclusive design solutions.

10. Apple: “If you were a pizza deliveryman, how would you benefit from scissors?”

This evaluates creativity and out-of-the-box thinking. Think creatively about practical uses for scissors in the context of pizza delivery, such as cutting pizza boxes or coupons.

11. Microsoft: “How would you test an elevator?”

This question evaluates your analytical and problem-solving skills. Discuss different testing methods, including safety, functionality, and user experience. Think about various scenarios and edge cases.

12. Dell: “Describe the internet to someone who just woke up from a 30-year coma.”

This question sounds daunting, but it basically tests your communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts.

The key here is to use simple, everyday language. Draw comparisons to concepts that existed 30 years ago to create understanding.

13. Zappos: “If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?”

Select an animal that reflects your personality and strengths, as this assesses your cultural fit and creativity. Relate your choice to qualities relevant to the job.

14. Bank of America: “What’s the angle between the hour and minute hand at 3:15?”

The question merely tests your logical and mathematical reasoning. Break down the problem into steps, considering the positions of the clock hands. Calculate the angle with precision.

15. Google: “How many cows are in Canada?”

Don’t panic with this question. It just assesses your estimation skills and logical reasoning. Use logical steps to estimate, such as considering the number of farms and average herd sizes. Show your reasoning process clearly.

Tips for Answering Unconventional Interview Questions

James offers tips when you encounter unconventional, if not bizarre, questions in a job interview.

  • Stay calm: Don’t panic when faced with an unusual question. It’s often more about your thought process than the exact answer.
  • Think aloud: Verbalize your thought process to show how you approach problems.
  • Be creative: Use your imagination and don’t be afraid to think outside the box.
  • Relate to the job: Wherever possible, connect your answer to qualities and skills relevant to the position you’re applying for.
  • Be honest: Give genuine answers that reflect your true personality and values.

James explains,

“These unconventional Interview questions actually help the interviewers understand how the candidates think on their feet and look at unexpected challenges. It’s really less about getting the ‘right’ answer and more about revealing the candidate’s analytical and creative process.”

Data Collection Methodology:

Bookipi claims they did a data scrape of the freelance site Upwork in order to find which countries are charging the most money for freelancing services. 119 countries were initially included in the analysis of countries with the least expensive freelancers, but due to data limitations, this left 40 countries that could be compared and ranked fairly.

This scrape focused on pricing data on freelance projects in ten categories, namely; Logo Design, Video Editing, Data Entry, Virtual Assistant, SEO, Social Media Management, Resume Writing, Creative Writing, Web Programming, Mobile Apps.

For each project, the starting price and ending price was collected, and a median price for each project was calculated based on these two figures. The country location of the freelancer offering the project was also noted.

For the overall country ranking, the median price of freelance services was based on a minimum of 10 projects for each country, to avoid any anomalies. For the category-specific rankings, a minimum of three project listings were used.
