Three months ago, ZTE surprised both smartphone users and tech enthusiasts when it announced the ZTE Axon 20 5G smartphone.

The Axon 20 5G debuted as the first-ever smartphone to feature the under-display camera technology. And this detail is the major highlight of the ZTE device.

Meanwhile, not long after the arrival of the Axon 20 5G, the smartphone maker began teasing the launch of the Extreme Edition of the phone.

Already, lots of leaks have emerged claiming one thing or the other about the Axon 20 5G Extreme Edition, but today, the Chinese brand officially announced the launch of the ZTE Axon 20 5G Extreme Edition.

The new variant of the ZTE phone would come with an upgraded RAM and a leathery back panel design.

Recall, the Axon 20 5G that broke cover in September featured a glass back panel and 8GB of RAM.

The new Extreme Edition, however, would come with a wear-resistant leather back and 12GB of RAM. The leatherback design gives the smartphone a soft appeal and allows for a good grip while holding it.

Aside from the RAM and back design, other features and specifications of the ZTE Axon 20 5G Extreme Edition remains the same with the original version.

The Axon 20 5G came with a 6.92-inch OLED panel that delivers a Full HD+ resolution of 1080x 2460 pixels. For selfies, the screen features a 32-megapixel under-display camera unit.

On the rear side, the Axon 20 5G packs a quad-camera setup which includes a 64-megapixel primary sensor, an ultrawide 8-megapixel lens, a 2-megapixel macro snapper, and a 2-megapixel depth shooter.

The Axon 20 5G arrived loaded with the MiFavor based on Android 10 OS, and it features a 4,220mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging.

On the inside, the Snapdragon 765G chipset drives the Axon 20 5G alongside an LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.1 storage.

For security, it features an in-screen fingerprint scanner for unlocking the smartphone.
