Xiaomi Mi Max Phablet announced

Fast growing Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi, has announced the arrival of a new device. This time, it’s a 6.44 inch phablet named the Xiaomi Mi Max.

The huge smartphone will be available in three variants. There’s a 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage variant that costs CNY 1,499 (roughly N45,000). This variant will be powered by a 1.8GHz hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor.

Next is a 3GB RAM, 64GB internal memory version which will pinch the pocket of prospective buyers- it has a price tag of CNY 1,699 (roughly N51,000) slammed on it. This version has a 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor doing the heavy lifting.

Lastly is a 4GB RAM variant with 128GB of internal storage. This version is priced at CNY 1,999 (roughly N62,000) and has a powerful Snapdragon 652 processor doing the heavy lifting.

Xiaomi Mi Max will be available in Dark Grey, Gold, and Silver colours. It will go on its first flash sale in China on Tuesday, 17th of May 2016. International pre-orders are on. It is expected to start shipping from June 21.

Other features

The Xiaomi Mi Max comes with slim profile of 7.5mm. It has an all-metal body and also features a fingerprint scanner which is located at the rear panel.

It has a massive 6.44-inch full-HD (1080×1920) 342ppi display and runs on Android with Xiaomi’s latest MIUI 8 skin on top.

As per camera abilities, the Xiaomi Mi Max sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and LED flash. It also has a 5-megapixel selfie camera with 85-degree wide-angle view, and a f/2.0 aperture.

The dual-SIM device supports 4G LTE and VoLTE services. It also has Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ A-GPS with Glonass, and Wi-Fi 802.11ac with Mimo as connectivity options. There’s also an infrared emitter which for notifications and can also work as a universal remote control. There’s also a light sensor, gyroscope, accelerometer, and proximity sensor packaged with the phone.

Furthermore, the Mi Max is backed by a massive 4850mAh battery which can support 14 hours of streaming video via Wi-Fi on a single charge. It also measures 173.1×88.3×7.5mm and weighs 203 grams.
