Today, the Indian arm of the Xiaomi brand announced the Redmi 9 Prime smartphone in the country. The smartphone made its way into India as the device that sold as the Redmi 9 in China.
Although the smartphone was manufactured as a budget device, it packs some stunning features that exceeds its price range.
Starting from the build, the Redmi 9 Prime has a splash-proof design. The rear side of the device is not a fingerprint magnet, and it has a ripple texture feel that allows for better grip.
The smartphone sports a water-drop 6.53-inch IPS LCD panel. The panel offers a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and has an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.
The screen comes pre-fitted with a screen protector, is TUV certified, and is shielded by Gorilla Glass 3.
On the inside, the MediaTek powered Helio G80 chipset drives the Redmi 9 Prime. The chipset is assisted by 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 64GB/128GB of storage. It also features a dedicated MicroSD card slot for storage expansion.
As for the lenses, the Redmi 9 Prime sports an 8-megapixel selfie camera on its front side. An AI-powered quad-camera system consisting of a 12-megapixel primary lens, an 8-megapixel shooter with a 118° field of view, a 5-megapixel snapper with a focal length of 2cm, and a 2-megapixel depth assist lens on its backside.
The company promises the smartphone offers a 2-day battery life. It packs a battery with a 5,020mAh capacity. A 10W charger comes along with the device in its retail box.
The Redmi 9 Prime has other features like dual SIM slot, Bluetooth 5.0, wireless FM radio, 4G VoLTE, USB-C port, Wi-Fi 802. 11ac, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The Redmi 9 Prime will appear in India in the following variants;
- 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – Rs. 9,999 (~$133)
- 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – Rs. 11,999 (~$159)
The phone will surface in Sunrise Flare, Blue, Matte Black, and Blue colour choices. It will be available for purchase on August 6 and August 7 through Amazon India.
