Tecno mobile has announced the arrival of the latest smartphone in its L-Series, the Tecno L8 – an upgrade to the L7 bearing a huge battery power.
The main areas of improvements in the Tecno L8 are a new user interface, a new external design, a bigger screen and a bigger battery.
The smartphone has been listed on Tecno’s website with pricing details and availability information absent.
However, since the phone is considered a mid-range device, it’s speculated that it would have a price tag of between 26,000 to 28,000 Naira.
The smartphone’s battery power is its main selling point. It has a 5050mAh battery whose single charge can serve users for at least 48 hours of “normal usage” and 36 hours of “heavy usage”.
The device also has an external body which is well polished and appears beautiful, though bulky due to its big battery.
The Tecno L8 has a 5.5-inch display (720 x 1280 pixels resolution), making it a kind of phablet, just like the Infinix Hot X507.
It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS which is laced with the new HiOs user interface. Measuring 77.5x 154x 8.85mm, the device will be available in the gold color option only.
Like other Tecno phones, the device is powered by a quad core MediaTek Chipest clocked at a processor speed of 1.3Ghz.
There’s also 1GB of RAM, which combines with the MediaTek processor to deliver a moderate multitasking performance.
The Tecno L8 doesn’t have much to offer in terms of internal memory. It comes with 16GB of internal storage which can be extended via a microSD slot.
For taking pictures, there’s an 8MP back camera with LED flash and a 2MP camera on the front. Not that impressive, but Tecno built the phone specifically for people in need of a large battery.
It has G-sensor, light sensor and proximity sensor on board with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and OTG as connectivity options.
Tecno L8 also supports dual SIM usage. One can expect the phone to be available at online stores in the near future.
