There have been rumours that Samsung has a flip phone that will come with dual screen in the works. Expected to be dubbed the Samsung W2019 according to a TENAA listing and certification of the device, early first-hand images of the device have surfaced online before the official launch — expected to happen in a couple of weeks.
The images revealed two Full HD 4.2-inch displays — one on the inner and outer sides of the upper lid. This is similar to the dual-screen design of the Samsung W2018. There is a Bixby button on the side and the clamshell-like device will come in a new Rose Gold colour option. Interestingly, the W2019 will be coming with dual cameras on the rear; both on the bottom base of the device. The specifications and quality of the lenses weren’t stated.
The bottom chassis will house the T9 keyboard, loudspeaker grills, and USB Type-C port. Surprisingly, the leaked images also confirms earlier reports that the South Korean smartphone will leave out the 3.5mm headphone jack on this device. It’s super surprising to see high-end flagships from the OEM come with a headphone jack while a ‘smart feature phone’ would not. Defies logic, yes?
Samsung is expected to officially unveil the device either in November or later in December. However, there is a high possibility of the device launching before the year ends.
