Rumors have surfaced about Samsung’s upcoming smart watch which reportedly is a round faced device that will be released in three variants. The new Samsung watch has been christened Gear A Smartwatch.
The new Samsung watch, codenamed Project Orbis will feature some limited capabilities including the Samsung Pay option, being the first ever device to launch global Pay services concentrated on a wrist.
Samsung is most likely to support same features as Apple Watch which was released in various versions. Samsung is also planning three different versions for its new Gear A Smartwatch.
Samsung’s watch will likely be available in three flavors named Orbis S1, Orbis S2 and Orbis Classic. All the three devices are codenamed SM-R720, SM-R730, and SM-R732, as shared by a Samsung source.
Samsung Gear A watch will not run some android or android wear OS. In fact it will be powered by Tizen operating system.
The technology analysts hope that Samsung will not repeat the same mistakes as it made with Samsung Gear 2 Watch, a part of which was left with half-baked Tizen OS and important applications.
Some limited features of the watch have been revealed. Samsung Gear A smartwatch will probably feature a circular Super AMOLED screen and full HD display with 360 x 360 pixels resolution.
It will be powered with a miniature Exynos 3472 processor coupled with 768MB RAM and will be provided with 4GB of built-in storage capacity.
Connectivity features include Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi b/g/n, cellular connectivity and NFC. A heart-rate sensor is also on board. The power backup will be provided by a 250mAh battery.
Other than this, rumors are also circulating that Samsung Gear A smartwatch will include a rotating bezel to provide location and navigation properties same as Apple’s Digital Crown.
