Xiaomi announced the Redmi 9 smartphone earlier this month, and Malaysia was one of the first set of countries to welcome this device. Yesterday, the company took the cover off the Redmi 9A and Redmi 9C phones in Malaysia.

The entry-level smartphones debut with large screens, massive battery capacities, and Helio G35/G25 chipset amongst other features. The price tag on these devices despite the fantastic features is very attractive and affordable.

The Redmi 9A and Redmi 9C smartphones come with a 6.53-inch IPS LCD panel. The screen features a tear-drop notch and is capable of producing an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. It has an aspect ratio of 20:9.

The Redmi 9A is fueled by the Helio G25 octa-core processor that clocks at 2GHz while the Redmi 9C comes equipped with the Helio G35 SoC that ticks at 2.3GHz. Both devices will arrive with 2GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 32GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. They also feature microSD card slots for storage expansion.

As for the lenses, the Redmi 9A and 9C will come with a 5-megapixel selfie camera. The Redmi 9A has a single 13-megapixel rear camera. On the other hand, the Redmi 9C has a square-shaped module that consists of a 13-megapixel primary sensor, a 5-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel depth assist lens on its rear. An LED flash accompanies the triple camera system on the Redmi 9C’s back.

However, of the two smartphones, only the Redmi 9C sports a fingerprint sensor. Both devices launch with other features like 4G VoLTE, dual SIM slots, USB-C, GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, IR blaster, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The duo will come pre-installed with MIUI 11 based on Android 10 OS. They both feature massive 5,000mAh batteries.

As from July 7, the Redmi 9A will be available for purchase in Malaysia through Lazada. The device will arrive in Twilight Blue, Midnight Grey, and Peacock Green colour editions. The phone will cost RM 359 (~$83).

According to Xiaomi, the Redmi 9C will be hitting the markets in Malaysia by the end of July. The device will come in Blue, Black, and Orange colour options. It carries a price tag of RM 429 (~$100).
