So far, 2020 has been a successful year for Realme. The company rolled out the Realme X50 5G smartphone and a lot of other devices in the X50 series this year.
Today in China, the tech giant hosted a launch event to announce the first smartphone in the new V-series, the Realme V5 5G smartphone.
The smartphone is a mid-range device. It debuts with 6.5-inch IPS LCD panel with support for Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The display has a 180Hz touch sampling rate, 90Hz refresh rate, and an aspect ratio of 20:9.
Furthermore, the Realme V5 5G’s screen is protected by Gorilla Glass and offers a 90.7% screen space. It sports a punch-hole at the top left corner for the front-facing camera.
On the inside, the smartphone is driven by the MediaTek powered Dimensity 720 chipset. The chip carries support for dual-mode 5G and is paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM. It will arrive with up to 128GB of natural storage and a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion.
Speaking of photography, the punch-hole on the display of the smartphone houses a 16-megapixel f/2.0 aperture selfie sensor.
On the smartphone’s backside, a quad-camera system consisting of a 48-megapixel primary camera with 119° field-of-view, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide snapper, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor is present.
The rear camera on the Realme V5 5G is housed in a rectangular module. It has several features like ultrawide angle video recording, panorama, time-lapse, 30FPS 4K video recording, HDR, and 120FPS 1080Pp slow-motion video recording.
As for the backup, the device arrives with a massive 5,000mAh battery. It supports a 30W SuperDart fast charging tech.
According to Realme, the smartphone will charge fully in 65 minutes thanks to the SuperDart charging technology. It also has reverse charging feature; therefore, it can serve as a power bank to charge other devices.
On the connectivity aspect, the Realme V5 5G will have support for dual SIM slots, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 5G, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Bluetooth 5.0.
The smartphone also sports a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for security, a Hi-Res audio, and a superlinear speaker.
On August 7, the Realme V5 5G will go on its first sale in China. The 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model of the device will retail for 1,399 Yuan (~$200) on the first day of sale. The smartphone will be available in Breaking Light (Green), Silver Wing Boy, and Blue colour editions.
