Last October, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE arrived in India as the most affordable smartphone in the Galaxy S20 lineup.
The handset featured the Exynos 990 chipset and has 4G connectivity.
Recently, Bureau of Indian Standards certified a new Samsung device with model number SM-G781B/DS.
A product page for the same Samsung device is now active on the website of Samsung India.
Now, speculations have it that the upcoming Samsung smartphone could be the 5G variant of the Galaxy S20 FE.
Recall, the 4G variant of the Galaxy S20 FE has the model number SM-G780. And the upcoming Samsung device carries the model number SM-G781.
Therefore, it is safe to assume that the SM-G781 smartphone would arrive as a new variant of the Galaxy S20 FE – possibly with 5G connectivity.
While India received the Exynos 990 variant of the Galaxy S20 FE at launch, other markets like the United States got the 5G-ready Snapdragon 865 model.
The BIS listing and appearance of the phone’s official support page suggest that the SM-G781B/DS smartphone would arrive in the country soon.
However, it is unclear whether Samsung will debut a new variant of the Galaxy S20 FE. Hence, it appears that the 5G-enabled Snapdragon 865 version of the phone would launch as the SM-G781 device.
The 4G and 5G variants of the Galaxy S20 FE feature the same specification. They only differ in terms of chipsets.
