Oppo has unveiled a brand new Android smartphone from its Neo series. The Oppo Neo 7 offers great picture taking features.

The Oppo Neo 7 runs an  Android 5.1 (Lollipop) with the company’s custom ColorOS 2.1 skin on top, Oppo said on its website.

It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz with 1 GB of RAM. It also has a 16 GB of internal memory which can be extended via a microSD card slot up to 128 GB.

Oppo Neo 7 also supports dual-SIM cards with one Micro-SIM and another Nano-SIM. It comes with a 4G mobile network connection, a Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB, 3G, and GPS.

The new smartphone sports a 5-inch display with a 540 x 960 pixel resolution which most people will consider low for today’s standards.

Oppo however made up for with the phone’s camera features.

The Oppo Neo 7 sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with flash and also comes with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera- and some great picture-taking features.

The smartphone has a light-sensitive screen which lights up when one wants to take selfies in a region with low light.

Oppo says the light-sensitive sensor can adjust the screen brightness perfectly to one’s face, such that selfies can be taken regardless of the light conditions, probably similar to the one on the iPhone 6S.

The Neo 7 has a colorful night shoot which removes noise and improves brightness and clarity.

It also comes with an UltraHD feature which shoots six photos consecutively and combines the best parts of each to a 24 megapixel ultra high-definition image, which has four times the clarity of ordinary photos.

It measures 142.7 x 71.7 x 7.55 mm, and weights 141 grams.

The Oppo Neo 7 packs a 2420mAh non-removable battery and is listed in Black and White colours.

These details about the Oppo Neo 7 suggests that it will be affordable once it hits the market – although its official price hasn’t been unveiled.

Reports say Oppo also has an Indian version of the phone, a US version and also an international version.
