Oppo F1, F1 Plus selfie smartphones launched in India

Oppo has introduced the camera focussed Oppo F1 smartphone in India along with its F1 Plus variant at its Mumbai event in India.

The Oppo F1 has a market operating price (MOP) of Rs. 15,990 (about 48,000 Naira) while its Plus variant has a price tag of Rs. 26,990 (approximately 71,000 Naira). The company also announced that the Oppo F1 will go on sale from February while the Oppo F1 Plus will be available in April, 2016.

The dual-SIM (Micro-SIM + Nano-SIM) supporting Oppo F1 runs Android Lollipop 5.1 with ColorOS 2.1, has an aluminium body and is 7.25mm slim. It comes in a 5-inch HD screen with 720×1280 pixels resolution which is protected by 2.5D Gorilla Glass 4 coating.

Powering the smartphone is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 SoC (four cores at 1.7GHz and four cores at 1.2GHz), Adreno 405 GPU, and 3GB LPDDR3 RAM clocked at 1866MHz.

The selfie-centric smartphone packs an 8 megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1/4″ sensor and software features such as Beautify 3.0, 8 live color filters. There’s an option to use the screen as a flash light to capture better images in low lighting conditions.  It also has a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 sensor, phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF), LED flash.

As for the connectivity, the smartphone supports 4G LTE networks (India bands supported), along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and Micro-USB connectivity.

The Oppo F1 also comes with proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, and digital compass. The smartphone is backed by a 2500mAh Li-Po battery and houses 16GB of inbuilt storage.

The Oppo F1 Plus on the other hand packs a 5.5-inch 1080p display and has 4GB of RAM. It also has a metal body, Octa-Core Snapdragon 616 processor, 13-megapixel rear camera with phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF), LED flash and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) with Color OS 2.1, similar to the F1.

OPPO said that the phone has more sophisticated front camera, but it did not reveal any details about the sensor or the battery capacity at the event.
