Recently, Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 480 5G mobile platform for budget smartphones.
The chipset’s arrival revealed that popular brands like Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, and many more would launch devices featuring the new mid-range processor.
A couple of days back, China welcomed the Vivo Y31s 5G. The smartphone arrived in the country as the first phone to feature the Snapdragon 480 chipset.
Yesterday, OPPO followed suit with the launch of the OPPO A93 5G smartphone. The new OPPO release has the same chipset as the Vivo Y31s 5G.
The OPPO A93 5G weighs 188 grams, and it measures 162.9 x 74.7 x 8.4mm. The phone arrives with a 6.5-inch LTPS LCD screen that has a punch-hole.
The display supports Full HD+ resolution, DCI-P3 colour gamut, 405ppi pixel density, a 20:9 aspect ratio, and a 90Hz refresh rate.
The handset shelters an 8-megapixel selfie snapper in its on-screen punch-hole. It packs a triple rear camera system that consists of a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 2-megapixel portrait shooter, and a 2-megapixel macro camera.
The onboard Snapdragon 480 SoC oversees the operations of the OPPO A93 5G smartphone. It comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB / 256GB of internal storage. The phone also has support for storage expansion via microSD card.
The OPPO A93 5G draws power from a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. It also supports security features like face unlock and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
Regarding connectivity, the handset carries support for dual SIM, 5G, Bluetooth 5.1, USB-C, GPS, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
For software, the OPPO A93 runs on the ColorOS 11.1 based on the Android 11 OS.
The cost of the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant of the OPPO A93 5G is unknown. However, the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant of the handset carries a price tag of 1,999 Yuan (~$309).
