Recently, an OPPO device with the model number PDYM20 / PDYT20 was approved by the TENAA telecom authority of China. The phone was reported to have a similar build to that of the OPPO A92s 5G that debuted in April.
According to rumours, the smartphone will debut as a lower version of the A92s 5G and will be called OPPO A92 5G.
However, the leaked render stated otherwise. It was revealed that the phone will be launched in China by the end of July as OPPO A72 5G.
The OPPO A72 5G will arrive with a 6.5-inch IPS LCD panel. The punch-hole display offers support for a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.
The device weighs approximately 175 grams and has a dimension of 162.2 x 75 x 7.9mm. The upcoming OPPO device will be fueled by a basic 5G-enabled MediaTek chipset.
As for the cameras, the OPPO A72 5G will feature an 8-megapixel front-facing camera and a camera setup consisting a 16-megapixel main shooter, an 8-megapixel lens, and a 2-megapixel sensor on its backside. The rear camera system alongside an LED flash is housed in a square-shaped module.
The device will arrive with the latest version of ColorOS based on Android 10 operating system. It features a side-facing fingerprint scanner and a 4,040mAh battery. The phone will likely come with fast charging tech as an 18W charger will be included in the box.
According to the China telecom listing, the OPPO A72 5G will be available in three variants;
- 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – 1,699 Yuan (~$243)
- 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – 1,799 Yuan (~$257)
- 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – 1,999 Yuan (~$286)
The smartphone will be available in three colour options; Neon Purple, Simple Black, and Oxygen Purple.
The phone is expected to officially roll out on July 31.
