OnePlus is not just known for launching different flagships at different price ranges, but also customising them to suit the customer better.
That is why their phones have always had Oxygen OS on the global market and HydrogenOS in the Chinese market. The HydrogenOS is also quote capable and based on the Android OS, but it does not have all those extra Google services on top. After all, they would not work right in the country any way.
As we gear up for the launch of the OnePlus 9, though, the company has announced that it would be moving from the HydrogenOS to ColorOS for its devices in China. This means that the units going for launch in the global market will keep their OxygenOS software when the flagship rolls out.
Now, the brand claims that the HydrogenOS which will soon be retired had done well but was not tailored to OnePlus users. This is the area where they hope to address with the new ColorOS, so much that they can help users get the best out of their units.
