Ushering in the new year for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users was the official rollout to Android 8 Oreo from their parent company. Not more than three months after that and the company has already started treating its loyalists on this unit to the latest of the Oreo build – Android 8.1.
This is coming to the units as Oxygen OS 5.1.0 – an adaptation by the company.
If you are yet to get the notification for update, you should keep some 766MB of space clean on your unit as that is the size of the download. Asides bringing on board the latest Oreo though, the update is also a patch for some security issues, brings fixes and performance updates too.
For one, the gaming mode on these devices has been optimised in the update. That is not to mention increased power efficiency and new additions to the default Launcher.
The OnePlus 5T will be treated to an exclusive full-screen mode which the OnePlus 5 will miss out on for now, no thanks to the aspect ratio it was developed with. Announcing the rollout on its forums, OnePlus promises that a select numb of users will get the push first. If all goes well, there will be a global rollout soon afterwards.
