HMD is just starting out in the market again with the Nokia brand, but it is looking like they have been around all along. The Nokia 8 was an impressive 2017 unit, no doubt. But then, it lacked some of the cutting-edge features that defined the past year.
HMD must have sat down and collated all that users would have wanted on the Nokia 8. Start with a bezel-less display, throw in a powerful 5.5-inch display. Close the setup with a stainless-steel frame that carries a Gorilla glass 5 on the front and an IP67 rating too. Combine them into one unit, and you have the Nokia 8 Sirocco.
The IP67 rating – which is an obvious improvement over IP54 that came with the Nokia 8 – means you can submerge the Sirocco in up to 1 metre of water for 30 minutes and still not have to worry about damages. Asides that, the new addition also comes with support for QuickCharge 4.0. In less fancy English, that means users can get 0 – 50% of charge in just 30 minutes.
At the heart of the Nokia 8 Sirocco is the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor that was on last year’s unit. Likewise, we did not see the RAM climb up from 6GB. However, a nice outwards appeal might be all HMD needs to make this one sell.
