Microsoft Lumia 550 to go on sale in India this week

Microsoft’s low-cost Windows 10 based smartphone, Lumia 550 has been released in India for Rs. 9,399. The handset will be available for sale from Wednesday, 23^rd December, 2015. The official website for Microsoft India still lists this budget friendly handset as coming soon, however, Microsoft has affirmed the cost.

Microsoft’s latest 4G LTE supported device is the low-priced Smartphone Lumia 550 sporting the latest Windows 10 operating system. It was launched internationally back in early December with a price tag of $139.

In terms of features, Lumia 550 comes with 4.7-inches HD screen with 720×1280 pixel screen resolution and 315ppi  pixel density. The handset will also feature a MSM8909 Snapdragon 210 quad-core processor clocked at 1.1GHz by Qualcomm along with an Adreno 304 GPU for graphics. Microsoft Lumia 550 runs Windows 10 and sports a Li-Ion 2100 mAh battery backup.

As per storage, Lumia 550 features 1 GB of RAM along with 8GB internal storage which can conveniently be extended up to 200 GB through microSD support.

In terms of camera, Microsoft Lumia 550 embraces a 5 MP LED flash supported primary shooter with auto-focus f/2.4 which ensure crisp and clean images. The 2 MP front-facing snapper is ideal for selfies.

The Microsoft Lumia 550 will come in two color variants including glossy white and matte black.

Microsoft has currently released the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL in India with a price tag of Rs.43, 699 and 49,399 respectively. Lumia 550 was launched alongside Lumia 950 and 950 XL earlier this year.

Unlike the two high-end Lumia flagships, the Lumia 550 does not feature the Continuum feature. This feature allows users access phone apps on a PC screen when the handset is connected to a supported Display Dock.

The current price of Lumia 550 in Europe is around €138 In United Kingdom the retail price of Lumia 550  is £88. While the US residents can purchase this handset for $139. The recent price cut will make Microsoft Lumia 550 the cheapest Windows 10 Mobile handset currently available for purchase in the market.
