Indian company, Micromax, has unveiled two new smartphones, the Canvas Mega and Canvas Amaze, with mid-range specs.
Although the Micromax Canvas Mega is available at Rs. 8,099 (about 25,000 Naira) via a third-party retailer listed on Ebay, both smartphones are expected to fully hit the Indian marketplace in coming days.
The Micromax Canvas Mega (E353) is a dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) device which measures 154×78.7×8.9mm and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop.
It sports a 5.5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display and also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection.
The new handset is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. It has 4GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via microSD card (up to 32GB) if more storage space is needed.
Micromax Canvas Mega has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a secondary 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Canvas Mega is listed in Black colour and supports 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Micro-USB, and Bluetooth.
The smartphone packs a 2820mAh battery, which according to the official listing is can deliver up to 10 hours of talk time and up to 600 hours of standby time.
The Micromax Canvas Amaze (Q395) is also a dual-SIM smartphone that runs Android 5.1 out-of-the-box.
It features a 5-inch HD (720X1280 pixels) IPS display and it’s equipped with the Firstouch Keyboard feature, which allows users type in their regional language, coming with mantra and word prediction.
The smartphone is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6580 processor clocked at 1.3GHz and 2GB of RAM.
Just like the Canvas Mega, the Micromax Canvas Amaze sports a 13-megapixel rear with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera.
It comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB (via microSD card).
On the connectivity side, the Micromax Canvas Amaze features include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Micro-USB, and A-GPS.
It packs a 2000mAh battery which can deliver up to 260 hours of standby time and up to 7 hours of talk time, according to Micromax.
