Indian mobile handset company, Lava International, has launched its new V5 smartphone in the Asian country with a price tag of Rs. 11,499 (about 34,000 Naira).
The company however said the phone has an MRP (maximum retail price) of Rs. 13,000 (approximately 39,000 Naira). It added that the Lava V5 will be available via physical retail stores and multi-brand outlets as well as online exclusively via eBay India.
The company touts the Lava V5 to be a camera-focussed phone with 4G connectivity. The handset packs a 13-megapixel rear as well as an 8-megapixel front camera. The rear camera comes with features such as PDAF (phase detection autofocus), f2.0 aperture, 5P Largan lens Blue glass filter, and dual LED flash. The selfie camera on the other hand features f2.2 aperture with 84 degree wide angle lens and LED flash.
Other camera features on the Lava V5 include Pic Focus, Wide Selfie, Night Pro, GIF maker, Intelligent Selfie, and multi-angle view. Another highlight of the smartphone is its 4G LTE Cat 4 support and Super Power Saving mode for extended battery life.
The smartphone has other notable features apart from its spectacular camera abilities. It is powered by a quad-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.3GHz. This is further clubbed with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage, which is expandable via a microSD card up to 32GB.
The Lava V5 sports a 5.5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display, with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection from scratches. It also runs Android 5.1 Lollipop-based operating system with Lava’s proprietary Star OS 2.0. It supports dual 4G SIMs and Lava says it is upgradeable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The Lava V5 also comes with OTG support and packs a 3000mAh battery. Other connectivity options on the phone apart from 4G include GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Glonass, and Micro-USB. VoLTE support is expected to be added via a software update at a later stage.
