The latest clamshell handset called Gionee W909 by Gionee will officially be unveiled on 29th of March. The forthcoming device is said to be the successor of the previously launched Gionee W900S.
The company has already sent out invites for the exclusive event planned for the release of Gionee W909.
Gionee W909 will come with exclusive, high-end features. However, the device will also sport a fingerprint scanner, making it the very first clamshell device supporting this feature.
The detailed specs of Gionee clamshell smartphones were released back in January, as both the devices were benchmarked on the Geekbench.
South Korean electronics giant Samsung also released a clamshell device called Samsung W2016 in November last year.
Samsung W2016 highlighted high-end specs and features such as dual displays, 64GB of internal memory and 3GB of RAM. Gionee W909 is speculated to feature dual displays along with 1280 × 720 pixels screen resolution.

In addition, the upcoming device is rumored to be powered by Helio P10 octa-core SoC, also called MT6755. For storage, the smartphone is said to sport 4GB of RAM along with 32GB of internal storage that can be extended up to 128GB via microSD card.
The device will also sport dual SIM, dual standby and will come with 4G LTE connectivity feature. In terms of camera, Gionee W909 will pack in LED-supported 16MP back camera along with 5MP front-facing snapper to click selfies. The device will measure 124.6×62.5×16.4mm and will weigh around 210g.
The handset will be driven by Android 5.1 Lollipop. However, the battery capacity has not been revealed by any sources yet.
The Gionee W900S will be priced at 3,599 Yuan and the forthcoming W909 is rumored to come with a price tag of 4000 Yuan.
