A few years back, the idea of True Wireless earphone sprung up, and today, the demand for this technology is on the high side.
Many firms have already released one or two TWS earbuds, and others are just getting into the league.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi aims to further penetrate the TWS earphones market with the new Flipbuds series it announced in its home market.
The pioneer model – the Flipbuds Pro – has an AirPods Pro-like design and targeted a premium section of the market.
No doubt, Xiaomi got the inspiration of the design and features of the Flipbuds Pro from the Apple AirPods Pro as the TWS also features Active Noise Cancellation.
The Flipbuds Pro has a short stem and a curved design. Unlike the AirPods Pro, the TWS distinguishes itself with a glossy all-black finish, which happens to be the only design available.
The all-new Xiaomi TWS earbuds come with the Qualcomm QCC5151 ultra-low power audio chip alongside ultra-dynamic 11mm sound drivers.
The Flipbuds Pro support Bluetooth 5.2. And the firm mentions that low-latency activities such as gaming wouldn’t be an issue on the new earbuds.
The Flipbuds Pro feature similar gestures as the Apple AirPods Pro. Long pressing either the right or left earbud causes a switch between noise cancellation and transparency mode.
A single tap allows the user to pause/play/accept calls, while a double-tap will reject calls or change to the next track.
The Flipbuds Pro come in an oval-shaped casing with a USB-C port at the bottom. Xiaomi iterates that the TWS earbuds can deliver 28 hours of battery life with the case and up to 7 hours of music playback on a single charge.
The earbuds support fast charging and wireless charging. And it promises up to 2 hours of playback on a 5 minutes charge.
Sales of the Xiaomi Flipbuds Pro will begin on May 21. And it will carry a price tag of 799 Yuan (~$124).
