You would think that the focus of the Xiaomi world would be on the MIUI 12.5 that is currently making its way to existing devices. The market seems to be looking past that into what could come with the next iteration – MIUI 13. Not just what could come on the new OS adaptation from Android, but also what devices that it would make it to.
A tipster already hinted that the new OS will be seen on devices launched by the brand from as far back as 2 years ago.
Taking the past behaviour of Xiaomi into consideration, it is not hard to believe that. The brand has been known to support its flagships with major MIUI updates for about 3 years, so saying devices from two years back will get the update is not too much of a stretch.
In fact, we expect that a series of midrange devices from this timeframe will also be getting the update if the OEM sticks to its way of doing things. On top of that, some lucky budget devices from last year will get the update since they are promised at most, two update cycles.
Seeing as brands like to debut their new OS on a new device too, it is safe to assume that Xiaomi has a new flagship in the works. That could as well be the Mi Mix 4 which some leaksters have claimed will come in Q3 – while others have asked us to expect it in June.
For now, it is a waiting game.
