Chinese smartphone manufacturing company, Gionee, is set to update its Elife S series with the launch the Elife S6 smartphone next month.
According to several media reports, the Chinese company has sent out massive invites for the Elife S6 launch event on November 16, 2015.
The company left a lot of things to the imagination as it didn’t offer vital information about the phone apart from its name.
Recently a new smartphone with model number GN9010 (not GN9007) was listed on TENAA and it is strongly believed that this same smartphone will be launched as Gionee Elife S6 in the market.
The device comes with 5.5-inch HD AMOLED display and is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek octa-core processor. It has 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage which is supported by a MicroSD card slot.
It runs on the Android 5.1 Lollipop based Amigo 3.1 UI.
The phone has a 13 Megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5 Megapixel front camera.
It supports 4G LTE and it is expected that the device would sport hybrid SIM slot where one can insert a MicroSD card instead of the second SIM.
It also comes with a 3,150 mAh battery which will easily last for a single day of usage.
Gionee Elife S6 is also expected to measure 6 mm thickness.
In September 2014, Gionee launched the Elife S5.1 which had a thickness of just 5.1mm – when smartphones with 6-7 mm of thickness are considered to be the slimmest smartphones.
The device was recognised by Guinness Book of World Records as the slimmest smartphone ever launched to that date, although it was knocked off the peg a few months later.
“Manufacturers should offer more features benefiting user experience other than just slimness,”
William Lu, President of Gionee said earlier this year.
The company during the year had already launched the Elife S7 and the launch of an Elife S6 has raised questions on why it would make a downgrade version in the Elife series.
