The next-generation ASUS ROG Phone appeared on the database of TEENA close to the end of January.
The model of the phone that showed up at the telecom authority had the model number ASUS_I005DA.
Surprisingly, a new variant of the ASUS ROG Phone 5 has surfaced on TEENA. However, the new model features a slightly different design.
The new smartphone has the model number ASUS_I005DB. It has a somewhat simple design, and it does not seem to feature the RGB-lit LED ROG and Tencent Games logos.
The stripped-down design suggests that the ASUS_I005DB smartphone would arrive as a lower variant of the ASUS ROG Phone 5.
Furthermore, the leaked images of the smartphone show that its rear panel has curved edges. It packs a horizontally-aligned camera module alongside an LED flash.
The new variant of the ROG Phone 5 would likely rival the upcoming Black Shark 4 (PRS-A0) model from indications.
Meanwhile, the Black Shark 4 (PRS-A0) appeared recently at TEENA certification platform with a simple rear design not too long ago.
The ASUS_I005DB has a dimension of 172.8 x 77.3 x 10.3mm.
Interestingly, the secondary screen on the I005DA model of the ASUS ROG Phone 5 is not present on the I005DB variant.
In the TEENA listing, the size of the display of the I005DB variant was wrongly stated as 1.95-inches.
The TEENA listing mentioned that the smartphone features two displays; it appears the 1.95-inches is the dimension of the secondary screen.
The ASUS_I005DB would likely come with a 6.78-inch OLED screen as the primary display.
The listing further mentioned that the I005DB would house a 6,000mAh battery, and it would ship with the Android 11 OS.
